Moringa Oleifera

Moringa is an amazing plant.  It grows in tropical areas of the world, where it provides nutrients for people that used to have trouble obtaining basic nutrition.

The nursing mothers in these areas are growing up with a healthiness and a vibrance that makes your heart glad.  In places where they are encouraged to grow the nutritional food that the people need, poor children are growing up with normal birthweights and sufficient nutrition to thrive and grow up to be healthy and strong young people.

Moringa Oleifera produces nutritious oil and nutritious leaves.  Side products include a light, pulpy wood with industrial uses and seed cake which can be used to purify water or to fertilize crops.  The root, while flavorful is actually toxic and should be avoided.  Some strains of moringa oleifera are capable of producing over 250 tons of bio-mass per acre. That is a lot of carbon dioxide to capture as a side effect to producing nutritious food.

Moringa is high in fiber, protein and other nutrients.  I recommend including it with every meal.

Dried moringa leaf powder is available from different sources , and if you cook it and include it with your meals, dried or fresh, your general health will increase and you will gain a higher sense of clarity that is difficult to explain. I have lived my life as a handicapped person, and my health since discovering this plant has increased so that I can honestly say to you that I am healthier and stronger now then I've ever been in my entire life, and I am an old person.

Moringa is a finicky plant and it requires a careful touch to propagate.  Seeds are full of energy, but the plant itself is delicate when it is young.  Once it is established, it propagates readily using various techniques and cultivates under the right environmental conditions to produce excellent food for cattle and for humans.  A skilled farmer can get a lot of food out of a small piece of land growing this plant during the warmer months of the year as an annual.

For a gardener, moringa is awkward, because of it's strange growth habit and unusual appearance, although there are many people growing it in their gardens in Florida, Southern California, Texas, Arizona etc.  Local ethnic markets where I live sell the fresh leaves for $9/lb.
